Brian Winton has resigned as chairman of Montrose, with Steven Tweed's side sitting bottom of Division Three."It is with regret that due to recent events and workload I have decided to resign as chairman and director with immediate effect," said Winton.
"I feel during my time at MFC I have given as much as any individual can do in a part-time basis.
"The commitment of time, energy and financial support have been far greater than I had initially planned."
Montrose have only won five league games all season, four of which have been away from home.
"I wish all the board members and staff at MFC all the best for the future and hope that the on-the-field performances improve," added Winton on the club's official website.
