Black and Golds claim the points
Annan recorded back-to-back league victories for only the second time this season with a 2-1 home win against promotion-chasing Montrose.
This season's previous meeting between the two sides in August ended in a goalless draw and neither team was able to break the deadlock before half-time this time, David Hopkirk coming closest with a header easily saved by Sandy Wood.
The Gable Endies' goalkeeper again needed to be alert in the 61st minute to keep out Alistair Love's goalbound header.
The Black and Golds made their pressure count just a minute later when Hopkirk's left-footed strike nestled in the bottom corner.
Love doubled the hosts' lead after Steven Swinglehurst's free-kick picked out the young defender, who made no mistake with a simple tap-in.
Garry Wood grabbed a goal back for the visitors from close range in the 89th minute but Stuart Garden's side were unable to find a late equaliser.
