Cowdenbeath deservedly took all three points from this encounter played under difficult conditions against visitors Montrose.

Two goals in a five-minute period in the second half ensured the points, but the home side could easily have scored three or four more.

The first half was dominated by the Blue Brazil, who missed a succession of chances. Visitors Montrose almost took the lead in an entertaining first half, but William Martin missed a one-on-one with the keeper

The breakthrough for Cowdenbeath came in the 53rd minute after excellent play on the wing by right-back Mark Baxter. His cross was headed on by Andy Jackson, who brought out a fabulous one-handed save from Montrose keeper Andy Reid.

Unfortunately for the Montrose number one, Ryan McCallum was alert to the rebound and forced it home for the opener.

The second goal came in the 57th minute and was a moment of genius from youngster Graham Guy. He struck a 25-yard right-footed free-kick high into the corner to secure the points.
