A crowd of 907 turned up for the top of the table clash between Montrose and East Fife. With all the other games in the division postponed it was thought that the plastic pitch would cope with the weather but it soon appeared to everyone that it was going to be very slippery for the players, it also saw East Fife lose Jamie McGowan after 25 minutes and Montrose lose Cumming in the 16th minute.

East Fife started the game brightly and Bobby Linn saw a volley crash off the cross bar after only 30 seconds. East Fife then grabbed the opening goal when a Young overhead kick was tipped over by Peat, and from the corner Smart powered in a header to give the fifers the lead. East Fife kept up the attack throughout the half and Peat saved well again from a Young effort just before the break.

The second half saw Montrose come into the game more as they pushed for an equaliser. However, East Fife still proveda danger and in the 57th minute Paul Stewart had a good effort deflected wide. Montrose then began pushing more forward in the last 15 minutes of the match which saw Cameron having to clear the ball off his own line in the 74th minute and then minutes later Black saw his volley come off the bar. Smart was penalised for handball just outside the box on the 89th minute and from the free-kick Black fired the ball just over for Montrose. Then into injury time Montrose had a chance for an equaliser when Jay Stein crossed in for Garry Wood who managed to had just over.

East Fife are now 16 points clear at the top of the table and it will now take a massive dip in form for them to not finish the season as champions.
