Montrose held on to third place in division three when a sparkling second-half performance gave them a deserved victory over East Strilring.
It was the bottom-of-the league side that shocked Montrose when they took the lead after 22 minutes. Derek Ure rose to head home a cross from David Harvey.
Things might have been worse for Montrose three minutes later, but a close-range effort from Ross Donaldson was blocked.
After 29 minutes Montrose's Duncan McLean collected a Martin Wood pass and chipped the ball just over the bar. Then from a Wood cross Kevin Webster fired just over.
After 40 minutes Graeme Sharp got clear on the left and cut in to fire a shot against visiting keeper Derek Jackson.
Montrose equalised after 45 minutes when Wood controlled the ball and scored with a superb shot on the turn. In first half stoppage time East Stirling were unlucky wen Paul Tyrrell smashed a shot against the post.
Montrose took a 2-1 lead after 54 minutes. A Paul Doyle cross was helped on by Wood, and Graeme Sharp scored on the back post.
Montrose made it 3-1 after 62 minutes when a Wood free-kick was headed across goal by Sharp for Stuart Ferguson to score from close range. Montrose piled on the pressure and Wood had a drive saved then blazed over from a great position when he should certainly have scored.
Montrose put the icing on the cake after 84 minutes when MacLean collected a poor kick-out from Jackson and ran in to shoot past the keeper.
Three minutes from time, East Stirling had Ross Donaldson sent off for a second booking.
